The Little Sluggers Division is a Tee Ball League and follows Little League’s Tee Ball guidelines and standards. This division will meet 1x per week starting the first week after April vacation and run for 8 weeks.
This league is open to boys and girls in Grade K . All players in this division will learn to throw, hit, take part in drills and play a controlled game. This program uses plastic and Incrediball baseball (a soft-covered baseball designed to build confidence).
The program is designed to introduce our youngest players to all aspects of playing and will be lead by parent coaches and volunteers. To increase the fun the instructional programs will be supplemented with controlled scrimmages to develop game situations and learning.
Our season typically begins the week after April vacation and runs through the last full week of school in June.
The Program Fee is $100
Boys and Girls in 1st Grade

At this level, it is our goal to provide each player with a fun and positive experience on the baseball field. For many players, this may be their first time on an organized team or playing baseball altogether, and we will strive to make this first experience a memorable one! We want to teach the players how to play the game the correct way, help foster a passion for the game so that they want to play for a long time, and certainly promote new friendships by showing them how we cheer on our teammates while demonstrating great sportsmanship to our opponents.
How will we do this? The Instructional Program will be led by volunteer parents who will be given support with weekly practice plans that place an emphasis on having fun and introducing players to the game of baseball and softball. Our primary objective is that we want players to look forward to coming to the field each and every week.
In a very fun and fast-paced way, we will look to get players a lot of reps in all of the necessary skills, such as hitting, throwing and catching! While playing "real games" will be part of a player's development during the program, it will be secondary to developing the skills and the confidence needed to achieve game success.
In order to achieve these goals and to make the experience a positive one, we need your help and assistance! Please contact our Instructional League commissioners with any questions, or if you are able to assist during the Tuesday/Thursday spring sessions.
We measure the success of the Instructional Program not by how far your player can throw or hit the ball-- but by whether he or she wants to play the following year!
Our season typically begins the week after April vacation and runs through the last full week of school in June.
The Program Fee is $225

Players will play and practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm. There will also be games on Saturday late afternoons at the Cochituate Fields beginning in May.

Big Diamond play occurs on a full-sized baseball diamond, which has a base path of 90 feet and a pitching distance of 60.5 feet. This is the same size as a High School, College, and Major League Baseball field.
With the field size being bigger, players need a few years to re-learn the game of baseball on how to throw, run, and hit on a bigger field. All players are in the same situation, and our goal is to prepare them for this adjustment and help them play competitively.
Please help us reset their expectations with a game they often love as they face the challenges of playing on a bigger field! If they could play on a Little League field they can play on a big diamond.
Wayland Little League will compete in the Natick Babe Ruth league with over a dozen teams competing against each other.
Practices: throughout the month of April depending on when the fields are released by the town
Games: 1-2 games during the week, no set days, but we are requesting Wednesdays, which are short school days. 1 Game on the weekend on either Saturday or Sunday as well. Teams will play 12-15 regular season games before playoffs begin.
Start time of games: 5:45pm for weeknights. Various times on weekends
Fields: Natick (Coolidge or Wilson); Wayland Middle School or High School)
Who Should Play: Players in Grades 6th (who want to play up), 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th. If you want to play High School JV/Varsity baseball, playing in this league for 3-4 will help prepare your player with plenty of Big Diamond baseball. Note: 8th graders who make the middle school team are highly encouraged to play in this league as Middle School baseball is typically limited to 8th graders only with limited game play opportunities.
Teams: Teams are drafted by March 18th and rosters will be between 12-14 players. We are limited by the number of coaches we have to coach and expect 2 teams. Please register today.
Bat Restrictions: ***IMPORTANT*** Only BBCOR drop 3 bats OR any USA-stamped baseball bats will be allowed in games and practices.
All USSSA and BBCOR bats with drops other than -3 WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN GAMES OR PRACTISES
