Wayland Little League Summer Baseball

The Wayland Little League summer program provides baseball programs for players of all ages who wish to continue to play over the summer.  Summer baseball is played against neighboring towns and exposes kids to players and ballparks of neighboring/area towns.

While we offer teams in a few different leagues all players should register in 1 place.  The default programs for all of our players are the Jimmy Fund leagues.   Players who have a higher skill level (and are available) may be offered spots on one of our Select teams (Little League World Series, Tondorf, Bay States).  Select teams are tournament teams that tend to play more games at a higher competitive baseball level.

Wayland participates in the Jimmy Fund League Little League which gives more than 5,000 New England Little League baseball and softball players the chance to continue playing after their regular season ends. Off the field, these young fundraisers work together with their community to raise vital support for Dana-Farber’s groundbreaking cancer research and compassionate patient care initiatives.

Wayland participates in the Jimmy Fund West League. This league is an instructional/developmental league with a 10 game schedule.

The league is structured as follows

• Wayland typically plays surrounding towns like Weston, Sudbury, Stow, and Maynard.
• Games and practices will take place Wednesdays at 6:00 PM.
• There will be 2-3 Saturday games scheduled as well for those that want to participate in these mini-tournaments
• The season typically in the last week in June and ends in early August

Rookie Program - is open to baseball aged 7's (and advanced 6's)  

• 7's (advanced 6's) will play on coach pitch teams where coaches will pitch to the players.  Each player will get an at-bat in each inning. Games will be on Wednesdays.

We waitlist after we get our first team.  We will then add teams as player numbers will support 2nd and/or 3rd teams (and coaches exist).

Season:  June 30th - July 28th 

Games:  Wednesdays (No Weekend Games)

Uniforms: Uniforms will be provided.  You do not need to fill out a sizing sheet ahead of time.

Team Formation:  First come first serve. Sign up early to be guaranteed a spot.  An additional team will be added if the numbers support it.

Wayland participates in the Jimmy Fund West League. This league is an instructional/developmental league with a 10 game schedule.

The league is structured as follows

• Wayland typically plays surrounding towns like Weston, Sudbury, Stow, and Maynard.
• Games and practices will take place on Mondays and Thursdays
• The season typically in the last week in June and ends in early August

Farm Program - is open to baseball aged 8's 

• 8's will play on kid & coach pitch teams.  Pitchers will pitch first 4 pitches to a batter and coach will pitch the rest if the batter does not hit the ball sooner.  The fielding team will play until they get 3 outs or the hitting team has scored 5 runs. Games are expected to be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Players will be evaluated based on their play during the Spring season.   Selections will be determined by: Ability, Availability, and Attitude.  These teams do require a big commitment to make almost all games and practices. However, it's a short season (June 16 - July 22).  All games will be played at the amazing Medway Cassidy baseball complex.

When are the games? Games can occur on any day.  Weeknight games are in the evening. Sat/Sun games start late morning and go into the evening.  Teams play 2-3 games a week - 1 game per weeknight and 2 on weekends.  

The Tondorf Season runs from June 17th through July 22nd, with games on both weekdays and weekends.  The season is comprised of the surrounding towns of Medway which is 2 towns over from Wayland, playing in 4 league age divisions (9, 10, 11, and 12). Each team plays 10 games in addition to at least 1 playoff game. All Tondorf games are played at the Cassidy complex. 

We understand that families have vacation plans during the season time frame. However, due to the brevity of the season, players are asked to make a commitment to playing a minimum of 8 of the 10 games including playoffs.

Playoffs begin July 17 and run to July 21st (22nd if 21st is rained out)

Where is the Park? All games are played at  Cassidy Field Complex - Medway MA.  

How long will it take to get there? It's a 38-minute drive South on Rt 27 and West on RT 16 for a total drive of 17.5 miles.

Roster sizes are limited to 11-12 players to maximize playing time.  Please let your coach know if any games will be missed.

9's Baseball Select Team (approximately 11-14 games) Players born between 9/1/2014 – 8/31/2015

10's Baseball Select Team (approximately 11-14 games) Players born between 9/1/2013 – 8/31/2014

11's Baseball Select Team (approximately 11-14 games) Players born between 9/1/2011 – 8/31/2012

12's Baseball Select Team (approximately 11-14 games) Players born between 9/1/2011 – 8/31/2012

(11's & 12's Baseball Team)

Wayland and Weston are part of the National Little League program.  LLWS is an International Baseball Tournament with more information found here - www.llbws.org. Wayland and Weston are joining forces to enter a team made up of the best players to compete against other Little League towns.  Practices and Games begin early June. These will not conflict with other Wayland baseball programs.

As the season only lasts as long as we win, it is encouraged that players also sign up for summer Tondorf/Jimmy Fund baseball.

Selection is Based on Tryouts and/or Player's Spring Play

13U DIVISION

High School Division

Wayland will be playing in the Lou Tompkins All-Star Baseball League which was founded for the purpose of promoting the game of baseball through organized competition.  

There are 3 divisions in this league based on age. 

• A Division is our High School Division (must still be in high school the Fall following our LTA season),
• B Division 14/15u
• C Division 13u (first year big diamond baseball)

This year Wayland will have teams in the B and C divisions.
