Spring Softball Programs

LITTLE AND BIG SLUGGERS (Grades Pre-K and K)

For programs for girls and boys in Pre-K and K, grade check out our Spring Sluggers programs here which is an instructional tee-ball program for both boys and girls.

Little Sluggers will meet on Sunday afternoons from 1pm-2:30pm at Art King Field.

Big Sluggers will meet on Thursday at 5:30pm & Sunday at 3pm.

Rookie Softball (Grades 1, 2, and 3)

Rookie Softball is an instructional program for girls in grades 1-3. No previous experience with softball or baseball is necessary. Our Rookie program was developed as a program to transition girls from our Co-Ed Instructional Tee Ball Program to our Girls Softball Program and to introduce new players into the Girls Softball Program.

The mission of Rookie Softball is to introduce softball in a fun and engaging way while focusing on a progression of skill development. Rookie Softball is held on Tuesdays from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm & Saturday 2pm-4pm. The first half of the season consists of fun, fast-paced drills to help girls develop softball basics such as hitting, throwing, and catching. In addition to drills, we will play controlled scrimmages to allow the girls to apply these skills in a game situation. The second half of the season brings competitive live softball with several coach-pitch softball games played in Wayland and Weston. Rookie Softball typically begins the week after April school vacation and continues through mid-June.

The Program Fee is $195 (excluding uniform cost)

Junior Softball (Grades 4 and 5)

Junior Softball is for Wayland girls in grades 4 and 5. No previous experience with softball or baseball is necessary. This is a developmental league without tryouts. All who sign up will be included on a first-come-first-served basis.

The mission of Junior Softball is to foster girls’ interest and passion for softball in a fun and engaging way while continuing to develop the basic skills of softball. Junior Softball participates in a Metrowest league which includes Wayland, Weston, and Wellesley. Practices, instructional scrimmages, and live competitive games are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 PM, and Saturdays at 3:30 PM. There is an exciting single-elimination round of playoffs at the end of the season. All teams make the playoffs.

The goal is to start the season as close to the beginning of April as possible. Weather and access to indoor facilities dictate the start date. Games typically start the week after April school vacation and continue through mid-June.

The Program Fee is $195

Senior Softball (Grades 6, 7, and 8)

(Softball Grades 6th through 8th)

Senior Softball is for Wayland girls in grades 6-8. This league is competitive as well as developmental. While previous experience with softball or baseball is not required, many players will have played at some level before. HOWEVER, PLAYERS HAVE ENTERED AT THIS LEAGUE AND GONE ON TO SCHOLASTIC SOFTBALL. This is a balanced league without tryouts. All who sign up will be included on a first-come-first-served basis.

The mission of the Senior Softball program is to foster girls’ interest and passion for softball with a fun and engaging program. The program will have a competitive spirit and will focus on advanced skills and strategies that help the player progress into the middle and high school athletic programs. Senior Softball participates in a Metrowest league which includes Wayland, Weston, and Wellesley. Practices and live competitive games are held on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM and Sundays at 3:30pm, with occasional Friday evening games and practices. There is an exciting single-elimination round of playoffs at the end of the season. All teams make the playoffs.
